Sami is devoted to a “lasting and just peace” in the Holy Land, the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. He is an advocate for nonviolent resistance and an inspirational leader working towards a shared future for Palestinians and Israelis. Sami will be joined by Ibrahim Ashour from Ghaza, Project Manager of the Palestine Trauma Relief Project.In preparation, you are warmly invited (but not required) to watch the film, which gives background to the current crisis in Israel/Palestine and shows the lives of people from the occupied West Bank. Their universally human stories speak of intergenerational pain, trauma and resilience. The latest research is helping us to understand the effect that stressful and disorganized versus safe, stable and nurturing relationships in our childhood can have on our lifelong wellbeing. Can we create safety within contexts that are not safe? This question is becoming more and more crucial in our shifting world. Christina Bethell, Professor at Johns Hopkins University, will share the newest findings with us and inspire us to understand how we might be able to provide trauma-informed environments that allow children and adults to flourish amidst adversity. She will equally explore how the concept of adverse childhood experiences meets mainstream.Join us to learn how science meets mainstream with the potential of a transformational shift towards collective healing.

The world we live in is fraught with conflict, loss, and other traumatic challenges that have a profound impact on individuals and communities. For Jewish people In Israel and worldwide, the experience of trauma is compounded by a history of persecution, conflict, and ongoing security concerns. Recognizing these unique challenges, the Jewish Trauma Relief Project is dedicated to providing specialized psychosocial support tailored to the needs of Jewish communities around the globe. Our approach is holistic, culturally sensitive, and rooted in a deep respect for the histories of the Jewish people. In this call we invite participants from a Jewish background to share from a place that helps to soften the scars. 

As we gather to celebrate this year’s journey, we hold our vision close: to transform our presence on this planet from one that unknowingly perpetuates trauma into one that embodies deep wisdom and compassion.
