SUPPORT FOR UKRAINIANS IN UKRAINE AND ELSEWHERE

Solidarity in Times of War - Ukraine

The current War in Israel/Palestine is awakening existential fear, acute grief, despair and trauma. Unspeakable atrocities have left many in a state of deep shock, with many families directly impacted and in immediate need of trauma first aid.

As part of our Global Trauma Relief Project, the Pocket Project is expanding our work to provide a systemic psychosocial response to the profound collective traumatization currently afflicting Palestinians and Israelis.

However, recognizing the levels of pain and trauma and unique needs of both communities, the Pocket Project will prepare separate spaces for Israelis and Palestinians. Our mission is to create a safe, supportive, and healing space for all those affected by trauma, regardless of their background or nationality.

The intervention that we propose is a multi-sector, interdisciplinary approach, spreading acute psychosocial support and trauma-informed approaches to the population, and then also to communities, the healthcare system, educational institutions and government.

We aim to prevent a continuing spiral that might take generations to heal by bringing psychosocial support to the situation now. Our teams of therapists offer 1:1 and group sessions with the goal of resourcing individuals and cultivating social stability. We also offer supervision calls and training for therapists and health workers. Through trauma-informed leadership training and consultancy, we support the adaptation and spread of trauma-informed practices and policies, so that communities, organizations, healthcare, education and government can unfold their capacity for trauma-informed care.

The Trauma Relief Support Project is run through donations and volunteer efforts. If you are able to support, please donate here.

Our hearts go out to you and your loved ones. Please help us to understand your needs and wishes as we shape our offerings. *Your data will be anonymous and treated with utmost respect.

Embodiment is the foundation for healing. Without embodiment, we have no instrument to receive the world and to ground the energy that has lifted out in anxiety, fear and trauma. Our body is the instrument that allows the energy to return and become fertile soil for the future.

Every time trauma is healed, we restore a part of our past and make possible a brighter future for ourselves and succeeding generations. We transform separation, othering, and scarcity into relation, interdependence, and abundance.

How to support the trauma relief project:

Would you like to make a donation to support this initiative? The Pocket Project, a non-profit organization, relies on financial contributions to realize Social Impact Projects such as this vital project in Ukraine. We fundraise resources that allow us to contribute to the healing of collective trauma and to reduce its disruptive effects on our global culture. Every donor is an active participant in the realisation of these aims. Your donation will be directly supporting the Ukrainian people who are working with us. We witness this transformation through the eyes of our participants and expert partners, including Oksana, a valued member of our team. This is what she has to say:

Oksana Ruda, Psychologist & Team member, Ukraine
What makes us different from other organisations is that at Pocket Project, we put the money to work without unnecessary bureaucratic costs. We are available to people promptly when there is an acute and urgent need.
Mykyta Mikhalko, Private Psychologist, Ukraine
It was an amazing experience to become a part of a big international community in times of war and uncertainty. The knowledge I got from the course was a full integration of my previous psychotherapeutic background. Thank you all hosts and funders for the possibility to participate.
Viktoria L., Psychologist, Ukraine
I would like to thank everyone for this wonderful project… I have found more answers and felt that I have a higher level of energy and recovery. It helped me to find new experiences, raise awareness and gain new tools for healing on all levels… I integrated new tools and knowledge into my experience and use them in my work. I am grateful to the presenters, translator and project organisers for their high level and openness. Now I am helping refugees using the tools from the training. I just want to say: you are all wonderful! Thank you!
Maya Plusheva, Psychotherapist, Ukraine
I was amazed at how easily and accessible the facilitator gave complex and difficult meanings during the course and how essential it was to be a part of such a coherent group atmosphere during these challenging months.
Olexandra, Ukraine
I am so grateful that I decided to sign up for a 1:1 session. My life has changed beyond recognition. Now, I am again interested in living and getting to know myself, asking myself "Is this what I want? Are these my values or are they imposed by others?" I realise that I was lost in trying to rescue others, which exhausted me. I wish more people find you so that more people can get to know their true self even in a situation of war.

Ukraine SUpport Project

We are building a global healing impulse that directs its efforts wherever the need is strong. In 2020, through our Covid Aid Project, we directed our volunteer effort to offer 147 calls in English, German, and Spanish, serving 2515 Participants. Since 2022, we have directed our capacity to support Ukrainians and those supporting Ukrainian refugees.

On February 24th, 2022, the citizens of Ukraine were jolted awake by the loud blasts of bombs and missiles. Unfortunately, the war seems to have no end in sight. A rapid cumulative display of crises is changing all of our lives. The Climate Crisis and Corona, now compounded by the War in Ukraine, is re-awakening hidden trauma layers and leading to increased stress, anxiety, and polarization.  If we can anchor ourselves and help ground others, we become more able to stay present and respond appropriately to each situation. So far, we are engaging in four subprojects to bring support to Ukrainians.
