Family Estrangement as a Collective Trauma Pattern

Exploring Landscapes and Pathways of Estrangement and Reconciliation

Online | English

What will we be exploring in this Lab?

Family Estrangement is an ambiguous loss where someone we love is physically alive but relationally absent. This gray zone grief often goes unrecognized in our culture. Millions of people across the globe suffer this type of isolating relational trauma. Most estrangements arise through a combination of temperament, social influences, developmental traumas, and the collision of narratives about the past. This type of trauma requires relational healing within an ecosystem of validation and support. Together we will explore the pathways of estrangement and reconciliation as change is possible.

Who is invited to participate?

We are inviting anyone who is curious about family estrangement, or who has personal experience with family estrangement and desires a safe place to explore and deepen awareness of feelings, thoughts, and sensations as they arise in relation to the grief, isolation, and shame of estrangement. This lab will be helpful for people who want to deepen their capacity for intimacy with themselves and others as we explore the relational rupture of family estrangement as a collective trauma pattern.

More about the journey of the Lab

The lab will be a place where you and your story are welcomed and will be gently received. We will follow in the footsteps of Thomas Hübl’s teachings on integrating fragmentation in our relationships. Our flow will begin with resourcing, meeting people where they are, exploring our stories, listening to the group, reflecting on our experiences, and learning new ways of being in relation. We begin gently to develop resources and skills of self-reflect. As we deepen our group intimacy and cohesion, our capacity to be seen and felt in our grief, pain of isolation, and shame will unfold.
