The Interrupted Conversation with Earth – Global

The Trauma of Forced Forgetting and the Pathway to Sacred Renewal

Online | English

What will we be exploring in this Lab?

Colonization and industrialization persecuted land-based knowledge keepers, severing sacred ties with Earth. Desacralization - the violent stripping of Earth’s sacred aliveness - created a collective trauma of forced forgetting. We inherited this trauma as ecological amnesia: treating the sacred as expendable, feeling separate from Earth’s community of beings, and losing languages that honored rivers and forests as sacred relatives rather than resources. This trauma shows up today as degraded ecosystems, extractive decision-making, and an inner sense of loneliness and disconnect.

Who is invited to participate?

We welcome all participants resonating with this call of remembering and renewing our conversation with Earth while deepening sensitivity and attunement to right action. We especially invite participants working at the nexus of land and community; in conservation, ecological restoration, land management, and community development, as well as sustainability leadership, social impact initiatives, and environmental justice.

More about the journey of the Lab

Renewal begins by recovering our interrupted conversation with Earth: Retracing what was suppressed, remembering what was silenced, and restoring our capacity for sacred dialogue as a path towards collective healing. We will practice so through deep listening, self-reflection, somatic awareness, the creative arts, and nature-based attunement. As we move together through this Lab journey, we will be resourced in recovering our capacity for ethical response, for knowing what the Earth asks of us, and for participating in restoration with a refined alignment and sensitivity.
