What will we be exploring in this Lab?
In this lab, we look closely at witch hunts in Early Modern Europe, which led to 40,000–60,000 (est.) executions, 80% of whom were women. Through this lens, we will explore the role and interplay of religion, colonialism, hysteria, misogyny, and the erasure of Indigenous European spiritual and earth-based practices. How does the generational fear of "being burned at the stake" live on in the archaeology of our bodies and structure society today? Together we will sense how the residues inform our bodies, lineages, and culture, and gently open pathways for integration and collective healing.
Who is invited to participate?
We welcome anyone who feels called to explore the personal, ancestral, or cultural echoes of the witch hunts. This includes exploring feminine power, suppression and reclamation of earth-based or intuitive practices, European Indigeneity and ancestral trauma, the relationship between the witch hunts and religion and colonialism, or the dynamics of patriarchy and fear that persist today. We also ask that participants who apply have an established support system, such as a therapist, or trusted 1:1 practitioner, and a contemplative or grounding practice to help hold what may arise.
More about the journey of the Lab
In this lab, we listen for lingering echoes of the histories of the witch trials in our nervous systems, lineages, and collective field. Sessions will be 2.5 hours, weaving resourcing, artforms, historical context, and embodied sensing. Participants can expect practices such as meditation, nervous system regulation, relational attunement, and small and large group exploration on the theme. Participants will have the option to form triad practice groups with one another outside the formal meeting times. Please apply if you can make 80% or more of the sessions and engage with offered materials.
When will we be meeting?
