Cultivating Our Inner Presence
Navigating The Boundaries Between Presence and Absence with Bayo Akomolafe
In a time of urgency and fragmentation, this masterclass invites us to slow down and meet the world from a place of depth, conscious entanglement, and sacred presence.
Together with Bayo Akomolafe, we will delve into the concepts of postactivism, decoloniality, fugitivity, and cultivate our relational field as a living ecology for this exploration. This series supports facilitators and changemakers in cultivating coherence, staying present with rupture, and embracing emergence at the edges of what we know.

“The times are urgent. Let us slow down—together ”
— Bayo Akomolafe

In this Workshop
Participants will develop inner and collective capacities for:
- Resonant “we-space” presence
- Navigating ambiguity and complexity
- Witnessing as a ritual and regenerative act
Our first class is also an integral part of the Pocket Project Global Social Witnessing Facilitator Training. Our second and third classes will expand and unfold our mutual exploration of becoming-with the world, not to control, or even know, but to meet the world, tenderly, as it transforms us.

Class 1: Cultivating our Inner Presence as a We-Space — Coherence and Resonance
We focus on:
- Shared interiority
- Embodied relationality
- Resonant fields in group consciousness
Learning Outcomes:
- Discover the dynamics of creating a “we-space” through shared intention, resonance, and relational presence.
- Practice deep listening and empathetic connection to enhance coherence within a group.
- Explore the transformative power of collective witnessing and its impact on group dynamics.
Contextual Anchoring:
Fully integrated with Global Social Witnessing Facilitator Training, setting the stage for Global Social Witnessing as a collective capacity rather than an individual goal. Unlearning of preconceptions and instead, opening up to a fresh witnessing of self, other and the world.
Class 2: Regeneration Beyond the Human — Slowing Down in the Cracks
We focus on:
- Regeneration not as repair, but as re-storying our entanglements
- Embracing “cracks” in identity, time, and structure as sites of emergence
- Exploring concepts of fugitivity, blackness, and cosmopoetics
Learning Outcomes:
- Cultivate sensitivity to the unseen, entangled, and more-than-human forces shaping group fields and individual perception.
- Explore the generative role of rupture, ambiguity, and paradox – cultivate the ability to stay in the “compost pile” of unknowing
- Practice slowing down and attuning to “cracks” in dominant narratives as openings – deepen inner hospitality to discomfort.
Class 3: The Sacred Otherwise — Witnessing at the Edge
We focus on:
- Witnessing as ritual
- Regeneration as a sacred undoing of mastery
- Navigating the boundaries between visibility/invisibility, self/collective, presence/absence
Learning Outcomes:
- Strengthen the ability to host symbolic, intuitive, and poetic processes that allow space for the invisible, unspoken, and ineffable.
- Cultivate group presence at the edge of knowing, where grief, awe, and silence can transform into a new inner movement.
- Integrate practices of sacred witnessing that restore a sense of wholeness and interbeing amidst fragmentation.
These 3 sessions combine learning, sharing, creative practice, and field-building.

“Grief is how loss travels. And there’s something about how loss travels that traces emancipatory pathways through colonial structures.”
— Bayo Akomolafe
Can you really learn a whole counseling technique in a day? Yes! It was exactly like that. The best part is, it was mostly practical and less theory. I got to experience first hand how effective the technique is by dealing with my own traumas. I gained so much confidence in being able to implement the techniques that we were taught. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
– Ms. C.M, Zimbabwe, Training Participant
Working with Victor has been truly transformative. It has deepened my understanding and empowered me with tools to address trauma effectively, both for myself and others. The techniques I have been taught can be utilised on a diverse number of people and in different places. His compassionate guidance and clear teaching style made complex concepts easy to grasp and apply.
– Nomsa T, South Africa, Training Participant
I came with no expectations but with an awareness that self-understanding, wisdom and self-care were deeply needed. The journey through trauma, self-discovery and self-knowledge has been transformative not only for the ‘shutter-up’, lights on moments, but for the soulful, meditative calm it has brought. I could not recommend more highly to those in acute need. Life changing.
– Mr. F.C., United Kingdom, Client
I met Victor at a very turbulent time of my life. When I think back to how I was when I met him, to now, it’s extraordinary the difference I feel. In particular, I took a lot from our conversations about mental health and personality disorders. Our meetings were a space to explore in much detail my experiences and through his unique techniques, process the complex feelings around them.
– Ms. T.W., Mexico, Client
Rola, almost every word you spoke rang as a clear resonance in my system…soft, spacious, slow, and kind. Your sharing, your cadence was soothing and offered space for digestion.
– Attendee, The Art of Speaking Your Truth Workshop
Working with Rola has been an incredibly transformative experience. She helped me confront and dismantle deep-rooted beliefs about myself. I started with ‘I can’t do this,’ and now I leave with ‘I guess that’s possible.
