Collective Stigmatizing of Queer Men – Global

Healing the Social and Spiritual Exiling of Non-Heteronormative Men

Online | English

What will we be exploring in this Lab?

Modern Western cultures are burdened by a long history in which queer folks are othered, pathologized, and persecuted by religious, social, and political systems. This lab addresses traumas-of-stigmatization that gay/queer and bisexual men of all ethnicities and ages experience as an othered group in many cultures. Honoring both our sensitivity and susceptibility to shame, we will explore our inner strengths, beauty, and deep capacity for self/other intimacy. In maturing our relationships with ourselves and one another, we foster enhanced agency to heal trauma as individuals and community.

Who is invited to participate?

With the understanding that LGBTQ+ folks self-identify in diverse ways, this lab will focus on the shared experience of those who identify as gay/queer and bisexual men, all ages and ethnicities, whether cis or trans, from queer-phobic cultures around the world. We welcome those who feel called to explore and begin healing the corrosive collective impacts of being socially, culturally, and spiritually othered. Using processes to surface, witness, and initiate healing of shared trauma, our goal is to liberate life energy for richer, more fulfilling lives.

More about the journey of the Lab

Our shared journey will unfold gradually, easing first into practices that deepen self-awareness and relational depth to build a safe, resourced container. We’ll then gently call in parts of ourselves that we’ve exiled as an intelligent, protective response to queer-phobic environments. As we deepen in intimacy and cohesion, we’ll explore select areas of interest: coming out, family, religious exiling, sexuality, romance; and ways trauma has produced inner shadowlands. Carefully releasing our internalized oppression, we anticipate renewed clarity for authentic growth.
